The University of A Coruña (UDC) will host the summer course “Industrial Decarbonisation and CO₂ Capture, Transport, Storage and Utilisation Technologies: An Atlantic Perspective” on 14 and 15 July. The course is organised by the Rock Mechanics Laboratory (LaMeRoc), part of the Research & Innovation Centre on Civil Engineering and Building (CITEEC).
The course will take place at UDC’s School of Civil Engineering and will focus on CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation, Transport and Storage) technologies, widely regarded as essential tools for achieving effective industrial decarbonisation.
The programme aims, firstly, to showcase the initiatives currently being developed in Galicia in the field of CCUS technologies, encouraging discussion on emerging professional profiles, opportunities and the challenges that must be addressed by both academia and industry. Secondly, it seeks to demonstrate how a regional environment supported by well-aligned public policies is fostering large-scale industrial projects and initiatives, where decarbonisation is emerging as a high-value economic and business opportunity.
The course is coordinated by Jordi Delgado Martín, a member of the Water and Environmental Engineering Group (GEAMA), and is also supported by the Spanish CO₂ Technology Platform. Its president, Pedro Mora Peris, will take part in the scheduled sessions. Both days will feature presentations by leading regional and national experts in the field of CCUS technologies.
