The special programme of training and outreach activities proposed by the Centre for Technological Innovation in Building and Civil Engineering (CITEEC) at the University of A Coruña has been recognised with the official label as a collaborating event of Green Week 2026.

This European event brings together scientists, companies, policymakers, organisations, and citizens every year to discuss environmental policies and best practices across Europe. Throughout June, CITEEC Green Week will bring together the following activities:

    • Thursday, 4 June | 12:30 pm | Interlabs Special Edition

Interlabs is a scientific and technical outreach event in which early-career researchers and technical staff from different CITEEC laboratories deliver short presentations about their work in a range of areas linked to the centre’s fields of expertise. This edition will feature visiting researchers working on green infrastructure and nature-based solutions.

    • Friday 5 June | 12:00 pm | Open Labs Day

CITEEC will open its doors to the wider public: students, families, young people, companies, and sector representatives. Attendees will be able to take a guided tour of the centre’s main laboratories and gain first-hand insight into the research projects and testing carried out in its facilities, including practical demonstrations and participatory experiences.

    • Monday, 8 June | 12:30 h | Lecture by Sebastián Villasante

On World Oceans Day, CITEEC will host the lecture “Building bridges between science and policy for a sustainable ocean”, delivered by Professor Sebastián Villasante, Director of the EqualSea Lab (an ERC Consolidator Grant project funded by the European Research Council), Distinguished Oportunius Researcher of the Xunta de Galicia, Co-Chair of the PECS Programme on Ocean Equity for Sustainable Futures, and Lead Coordinating Author of the IPBES Transformative Change Assessment, the Global Tipping Points Reports, and the Third World Ocean Assessment.

    • Thursday, 18 June | 12:30 pm | Lecture by Adrián Krezlik

Under the title “Decarbonisation strategies in the built environment”, architect and researcher at the University of Porto Adrián Krezlik will demonstrate how environmental analysis tools, material strategies, and digital simulation can be integrated into the architectural design process to reduce embodied carbon and operational energy demand while improving indoor comfort.

    • Thursday, 18 June | 05:00 pm | Climate Walk

A group guided by Adrián Krezlik will observe and analyse how the traditional and vernacular architecture of the city of A Coruña adapts to local climatic conditions to improve thermal comfort and reduce buildings’ energy demand.

    • Friday, 19 June | 10:00 am | Course: “Applied and Practical Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for Infrastructure”

Adrián Krezlik will deliver a course on how Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) can be integrated into the development and evaluation of real-world projects, analysing how environmental impacts associated with materials and early-stage processes can dominate a project’s overall environmental profile. The course will also address the emerging role of AI and predictive models in the field of LCA.

Activities are open and free of charge until full capacity is reached, except for the climate walk, the training course, and the open day, which require prior registration through the form provided by CITEEC (before Monday, 8 June). Participation in the walk and the course will be prioritised for staff affiliated with the centre, although they may be opened to the general public if spaces remain available.
