Alberto Fernández Sánchez

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (2005) and a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science and Engineering (2024) from the University of A Coruña. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the Official Doctoral Program in Information and Communication Technologies, focusing on the development of a bio-inspired training model for machine learning algorithms.

Since December 2024, he has been working as a senior technician in computer and electronic systems at the Center for Technological Innovation in Building and Civil Engineering (CITEEC). In the field of artificial intelligence, he served as a researcher at the Inditex Chair in Green Algorithms at the CITIC Foundation, developing more efficient and sustainable solutions.

He has participated in projects such as the development of web applications for Aoire (2022) and has presented at specialized conferences, notably winning the XOVETIC 2023 award for the most significant work with industrial applications for the use of neural networks in predicting flow rates at hydroelectric dams.

With 14 years of experience as a manager and partner at ARA Solutions, he has led technology and strategic projects for the private sector. In 2025, he presented his thesis proposal, “From Biological Neurons to Artificial Neural Networks: A Bioinspired Training Alternative,” at IWANN.
