Virginia Mato Abad

Lecturer and coordinator of the Software Engineering specialization in the Computer Engineering degree program at the University of A Coruña. She directs the ALDABA-WIB Chair, an inter-university chair between the University of A Coruña and the University of Vigo, whose main objectives include promoting initiatives that contribute to giving visibility to women in the world of ICT, encouraging technological vocations and breaking down gender stereotypes so that girls and boys can decide their professional future with truthful and objective information.

Her research in Computer Engineering focuses on the development of computer models and procedures for the analysis and processing of medical images, as well as the adaptation of Machine Learning (ML) techniques to apply the results obtained with these procedures.

Her merits include co-authorship of 21 articles indexed in Journal Citation Reports and participation in 23 R&D&I research projects funded in international, national and regional competitive calls.
