Ricardo García Mira

Ricardo García Mira is a Professor of Social Psychology, specialized in Environmental Psychology. He directed the Person-Environment Research Group at the University of A Coruña (UDC) from 1995 to 2022. He was appointed Honorary Professor by the University of Bath, in the United Kingdom, for the period 2016-2027. On December 6, 2018, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi. In 2019, he was named a Fellow of the International Association of Applied Psychology. He was President of the International Association for People-Environment Studies (IAPS) from 2014 to 2018 and served as President of the Xoán Vicente Viqueira Institute of Psychosocial Studies and Research from 2004 to 2022, currently holding the position of Honorary President. He was a Member of Parliament for the province of A Coruña (11th and 12th Legislatures, between 2016 and 2019), where he served as Spokesperson for Climate Change in the Committee for Ecological Transition. He was also Secretary of the Committee on Economy and Innovation in Parliament, and a member of the Committee on Science, Universities and Innovation. Among the recently completed projects, he was Coordinator of the European Consortium ENTRANCES (2020-2023) on social aspects of the energy transition, and is currently Principal Researcher for UDC and member of the European Consortium TRIGGER (2022-2027) on the impact of climate change on health.
