José París López

I am a Civil Engineer, having graduated from the University of A Coruña (class of 1999-2004) with an overall grade of honors. I also obtained my PhD in March 2008 from the University of A Coruña, graduating with the highest distinction (summa cum laude) for my thesis. I was awarded two prizes for my doctoral thesis (ANCI 2008 Award and the UDC Extraordinary Award).

I am the author of over 30 JCR-indexed scientific articles (the vast majority in Q1 journals) in more than 20 different journals. My first scientific article related to the topic of my doctoral thesis is one of the most cited in the field of engineering at the University of A Coruña. I completed a research stay at Arts et Métiers – ParisTech, France. I have participated in more than 15 competitive research projects and 4 research and technology transfer contracts with companies. I am the principal investigator of competitive research projects funded through public calls for proposals. I have also co-supervised 5 doctoral theses, one of which received the 2018 ANCI Award for doctoral dissertation, as well as 2 Master’s theses and 4 technical projects.

In 2022, 2023 and 2024 I was associate editor of the international journal Engineering Optimization published by Taylor and Francis.
