Mar Chao López
Since January 2023, Ms. Mar Chao López has served as Head of Commercial and Business Development at the Port Authority of Valencia. Previously, she was part of the Multimodal Transport department at the textile company Inditex from January to December 2022; she served as Director of Operations at Puertos del Estado from January 2021 to January 2022, and previously served as Head of Commercial and Business Development at the Port Authority of Valencia from October 2017 to January 2021. She has also served as General Manager of the Reyser Group (a sub-holding company of the Bergé Group, a provider of port services) from December 2010 to October 2017, General Manager of Ecolmare Ibérica S.A. (an environmental company dedicated to providing water cleaning services in ports and along coastlines) from April 2009 to October 2017, Director General of Transportation for the Regional Government of Galicia from December 2006 to April 2009, and a member of the Operations Department of the Vigo Port Authority from November 2001 to December 2006.
Mar Chao holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of A Coruña and a law degree from the Open University of Catalonia. She also holds a master’s degree in Maritime Law and Port Management from the European Institute of Maritime Studies and the Galician Institute of Maritime and Port Studies, as well as an MBA from the Intercontinental University of Business. She also has additional training in Logistics Management (Lloyd’s Maritime Academy), Maritime Transport and Port Management (Polytechnic University of Madrid), Digital Transformation: From AI and IoT to the Cloud, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Digital Transformation: Platform Strategies for Success (MIT Sloan School of Management), and Blockchain as a Disruptive Technology (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
Thanks to his extensive career, Mar Chao has developed advanced expertise in corporate management and operations, with over 20 years of experience, as well as in-depth knowledge of port planning and logistics, digital transformation, and government operations.
