Juan José de Oña López

Dr. Juan de Oña López earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in 1997 (with an overall grade of Summa Cum Laude, ranking second in his class, and receiving the Graduation Award). He also earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris in 1998. UPM FPU Fellow during the 1997–1998 and 1998–1999 academic years in the Department of Materials Science at the School of Civil Engineering. Professor of Traffic and Transportation in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Granada (UGR) since 1999. Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the UGR since 2001 (with a grade of Summa Cum Laude by Unanimous Decision). Eligible for the Faculty of Tenured University Professors in the Area of Transportation Engineering and Infrastructure since July 12, 2005. Tenured University Professor since 2007. Accredited for the Faculty of University Full Professors since February 2013. University Full Professor since 2016.

Juan de Oña’s professional and research activities focus on transportation, urban planning, and the environment. He has carried out research projects funded by MINECO, AECID, the Ministry of Public Works, CEDEX, the Regional Ministry of Public Works and Transportation of the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Granada Transportation Consortium, GIF, RENFE, the Public Entity for the Management of Andalusian Railways, the Spanish Railways Foundation, Spanish Airports and Air Navigation, the Public Port Authority of Andalusia, as well as other public and private organizations. He has over 150 publications (articles, presentations, papers, posters, etc.) in prestigious national and international journals and conferences. At the University of Granada, he has served as Deputy Director of the School of Civil Engineering (ETSI Caminos, Canales y Puertos), Director of the Department of Civil Engineering, and Head of the Transportation Engineering and Infrastructure Division. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Transportation Engineering Forum (FIT).
