José Manuel Andrade Garda
José M. Andrade-Garda has been an Associate Professor at the University of A Coruña since 2011. His main interests include environmental studies (with a focus on microplastics and data mining), as well as industrial quality control and chemometrics (multivariate regression and pattern recognition, both unsupervised and supervised). He is a member of the QANAP research group (Applied Analytical Chemistry Group) and participates in several European research projects, where he develops analytical methods based on infrared (IR) spectrometry for the identification and characterization of microplastics in various environmental matrices. He also conducts pattern recognition studies on environmental data.
His PhD focused on the development of advanced analytical methods for petrochemical quality control, particularly IR procedures coupled with multivariate prediction. He has published 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored 16 book chapters, edited four books, and presented around 230 conference contributions. His research has been positively evaluated by Spanish governmental agencies (6 research assessment periods, including one on Knowledge Transfer).
