Francisco Figueiras Velo
PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at the University of A Coruña, integrated into the Numerical Methods in Engineering Group (Department of Mathematical and Representation Methods). His current research focuses on the development of biomechanical models, numerical methods, and hybrid classifiers aimed at creating digital twins applied to the prediction and personalized clinical management of prostate cancer, within the framework of the PCATWIN project, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
Previously, he served as an assistant researcher in the same group, participating in the GREEN-HUGS project, dedicated to the study of the geomechanics, safety and structural integrity of salt caverns for underground hydrogen storage.
His academic background combines civil engineering with advanced computational modeling, integrating research in energy transition and biomedical applications. Her research interests encompass numerical simulation, data-driven prediction, and the development of computational tools geared towards high-impact scientific challenges.
