Fermín Luis Navarrina Martínez

Since 1983 I have taught Computational Engineering courses in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Civil Engineering and I conduct research in the same field.

Biography: I was born in Santiago de Compostela (1960). I studied at La Salle School. I graduated with honors (1976) and received an extraordinary award (1977). I earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) (with honors, 1983). I received my PhD in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) (with honors, 1987). I was a tenured professor (UPC, 1988-1991) and a full professor (UPC, 1991-1992). I was a visiting researcher in the USA (Cray Research Center for Industry, Science and Technology, 1990). I was the founding director of the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering in A Coruña (University of A Coruña, 1991-1999). I have been a full professor (University of A Coruña, since 1992). I chaired the Doctoral Committee (University of A Coruña, 2004-2008). Member of the SEMNI Executive Committee (1993-2020). Member of IACM (since 1993).

Scientific activity: 59 articles in JCR magazines, 9 chapters in books, 146 communications in proceedings and 63 additional communications in conferences, 18 invited conferences, 7 doctoral theses, 8 master’s theses, 38 research projects for a total amount of 5 M (approx.), 32 research contracts with industry or administration, organization of 46 conferences you internationalize

Premios y reconocimientos: Fellow of the Wessex Institute of Great Britain (2003), Medalla al Mérito de la Demarcación de Galicia del Colegio de ICCP (2003), Premio Ícaro del Grupo de Mecánica Estructural de la UDC (2006), Medalla al Mérito Profesional del Colegio Nacional de ICCP (2006), evaluación positiva de todos los quinquenios docentes (7) y sexenios de investigación (7).
