Diego Carro López
Dr. Diego Carro López holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and is an Associate Professor at the University of A Coruña. His research career focuses on two main lines: the valorization of waste for its application in construction—such as bivalve shells, industrial ashes, and construction and demolition waste—and the development of new eco-concretes, using rheology to optimize their behavior in the fresh state. With participation in 14 competitive projects, his role as principal investigator in the Biovalvo Project (2012–2015) stands out. His scientific output includes 31 contributions indexed in Scopus, 3 patents, and extensive participation in conferences, with two recognized research six-year periods (sexenios) and one in knowledge transfer.
His profile is complemented by solid teaching experience since 2005 in subjects such as Construction Materials and History of Civil Engineering. He has also completed two research stays at prestigious international institutions and held academic management positions, including Academic Secretary of the School. In terms of outreach, he led two projects funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), which brought civil engineering workshops to a thousand secondary school students. He is currently responsible for Mobility and Outreach at his center.
