Breixo Gómez Meijide
Dr. Breixo Gómez Meijide has been a Civil Engineer since 2009 and completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 2015, receiving the 2016 Outstanding Ph.D. Award from the University of A Coruña. The research conducted during his doctoral studies focused on the sustainable use of recycled construction and demolition waste as aggregate in cold mix asphalt (CMA).
He also conducted research on the carbon footprint of construction materials, such as cement, using a new methodology based on the accounting practices of manufacturing companies. After spending time in Italy, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, he worked for three years as a researcher at the University of Nottingham. Among his responsibilities, he supervised four doctoral students in the fields of self-healing asphalt technology and cold asphalt mixtures. His research interests also include sustainable materials for road construction, as well as new technologies for smart roads and advanced materials for safer roads. In October 2018, he joined the European Asphalt Pavement Association (EAPA) as technical director, where he manages and supports various sections, contributes to European standardization processes in CEN committees related to asphalt, and represents the asphalt paving industry in European decision-making bodies, specifically the European Commission and the European Parliament.
