Blanca Moncunill Solé
Blanca Moncunill-Solé is a paleobiologist whose research focuses on unraveling the biology, ecology, and evolutionary dynamics of small extinct mammals, with a particular interest in lagomorphs (rabbits, hares, and pikas). She received her PhD in Biodiversity from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2016), studying the small giant mammals that inhabited the Mediterranean islands during the Plio-Quaternary period.
Throughout her research career, she has developed statistical models for reconstructing body weight in various vertebrate orders. She has also participated in the description of new extinct species and established the first long-term database on lagomorph responses to insularity. She has a broad network of international collaborators and has worked in teams at prestigious scientific centers, such as the Centre for Research on Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (Portugal), within the framework of European research projects (MSCA-PF).
Actualmente, como investigadora postdoutoral do programa Ramón e Cajal, analiza as respostas evolutivas dos lagomorfos aos cambios climáticos do pasado desde a perspectiva da Paleobiología da Conservación.
