Amparo López Jiménez

Dr. Amparo López Jiménez earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and a Bachelor’s degree in Combined Engineering (Mechanical-Electrical) from Coventry Polytechnic (United Kingdom). She completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering (UPV, Spain). She is currently a professor of Hydraulic Engineering at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering and has served as Director of the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering since 2016. She was elected director of her department in 2016 and reelected in 2020.

Since 1997, her research has focused on fluid mechanics, hydraulic machinery, and pollutant dispersion. She has worked on more than 50 research projects or contracts and is the author of 110 journal articles, editor of 14 books, and author of more than 170 conference papers, among other research activities. Her professional goals revolve around integrating sustainability concepts with aspects of fluid mechanics, combining hydraulic machinery and urban hydraulics.

In 2021, she was elected by the International Association for Hydraulic and Environmental Research (IAHR) to serve as the organization’s European Vice President for an initial two-year term.
