Alberto José Alvarellos González
Alberto Alvarellos González is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of A Coruña and researcher in the ISLA group, attached to CITEEC. His work combines teaching, research and technology transfer at the intersection between Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Civil Engineering.
His doctoral thesis developed an IoT platform with machine learning for port risk management, applied to the prediction of ship movements and wave overtopping. Since then, he has participated in national and international R&D projects related to prediction models based on neural networks and evolutionary algorithms, flood early warning systems, climate change analysis, LoRaWAN infrastructure deployments and advanced visualization of sensor data.
In the teaching field, he teaches in the degrees of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Engineering, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Computer Engineering and in the Master in Industrial Mathematics. In addition, he has led projects and collaborated in educational innovation activities.
In transfer, he has developed web tools with GIS techniques and AI models for decision making in critical environments, consolidating a trajectory oriented to digital solutions for sustainability and security.
