Climate change and the management of natural and water resources
The management of the environment and natural resources—which are a finite resource—is one of the greatest challenges society faces today and in the future.
Strategic resource management
The current climate change situation calls for action to identify the risks and understand the consequences on both the natural environment and society. The coastal zone is a vulnerable area and requires strategies to properly assess, plan and manage its resources in order to achieve sustainable development, which requires information from various fields of knowledge.
In this regard, CITEEC staff are working on the assessment of extreme weather events, such as floods or droughts, as well as studying urban hydrology, analysing wastewater and exploring the challenges of water management in rural areas.
